About
I’m a New Yorker who moved to Paris in 2008 for (what else?) love.
Love may be free, but it doesn’t come cheap: I gave up my Manhattan apartment, left behind family and friends, and had to rethink my music and journalism careers. I’ve written for Glamour, Cosmopolitan, People, Marie Claire, In Touch, InStyle, Star, and MSN—usually about love, dating, fashion or celebrities—and I’ve released three records.
Now I’m navigating Paris as an expat while adjusting to a married-with-children existence. Sure, the culture and language gap are frustrating to deal with but the hardest part? Relinquishing my identity as a crazy independent, single rock chick in New York City to become a (somewhat) demure wife, mother and Parisian madame.
This blog is about love, life, marriage, babies and whatever lessons I’m learning as I slowly (agonizingly, grudgingly and even, sometimes, happily) become a grownup. In France.
It’s not exactly La Vie en Rose… but it is life, French-American-Korean style. Can you believe I’m an immigrant, twice-over??!!
Bienvenue to my blog. New York is in Paris!
P.S. For those who want to know more about my musical endeavors, click here.
have a great time in Paris. Wish I could be there. Take some time to try the segway’s. A few years ago I did that with a girl I was (am still) in love with. Sad thing is she ruined my life and that’s the best memory I have. Anyway – hope you have better experiences. O.A.
Thanks, Jack! I’m sorry to hear your Parisian love affair didn’t go so well. But I’m a true believer in true love… maybe things will work out with you and your girl.
XO,
M
what-up girl!
wishing you much happiness & success for the future. make sure you get rockin’ in Paris! who knows, u can be the next Madeleine Peyroux…but w/ a kick ass sound!
btw, u n’ yer man make it out to San Francisco, hit me up. ~ciao
Wow …your a very passionate person..to strive for love in another country…to ,should I say,go out side the box…
I hope it all works out for you…if not..come to Orlando
and look me up…
Cuz to me determination, drive, passion and love are all good qualities one should have, but most women now a dayz are surely lacking those traits…

Keep rockin’ what you do…hope you are enjoying your vacay and best of luck back in Paris!!

I chanced on your website while looking for reviews of the hotel grand paradis in Val D’isere. Couldn’t find more than one review on it (which was strange).
Having I hope recovered from your recent trauma in both senses of the word can you let me know a little bit more about it as will be going next week with partner an little one (10 months) and the missus is giving me strife about it?
Cheers
Nick
PS best of luck in gay paree

Hey! So I’m new to blogging and was thinking while I write I should also follow. So since yesterday I’ve been looking for a blog I actually want to follow, and I’ve finally found it.
Your writing is easy to follow, witty, and insightful. I actually don’t live in Paris but I do LOVE Paris like no other, so I highly enjoy reading about your experiences in my favorite city!
Looking forward to more posts!
I think Korean have something special like artistic feeling, tenacity, and humor.
I hope you to be in Seoul someday.
Your blog is awesome!!!
Hi from Marseille! Yes, also here for love…
Hi! How’s Marseille? I still haven’t made it down there yet, but it is on the list of places I want to go in France
I hope you’re enjoying life and love in France. XO~M
it is so great to reconnect with you – although we never really talked at glamour – seems like we have more in common now. i’m loving your blog!
mk
Me, too–so glad we are talking (again/for the first time
XO~M
I actually ‘Google’d ‘real life Carrie Bradshaw’ and came up with your blog (pardon me for bringing up what has become a nostalgia for others but although I knew the existence of the show, I only plunged into it in recent times). True to form, I feel that a real life person representing the phenomenal satire, SATC, has been one of my more exciting discoveries.
I am one of those 20 something non-complacent person with dreams and hopes of making it big. We’ll see where life takes me, but for now your blog is something I shall read in awe again and again…
What a wonderful comment—and one I hope to live up to. Thank you! And I’ll be keeping up with you as you follow your dreams… XO~M
Hey Maggie
Came across your blog when I was doing some research on yoga studios.yeah… interesting where the net can take you nowadays… Got curious about your blog as I’m also a transplant to NYC ( for half a decade now and loving it) who might end up being a transplant in Paris one day becos of the french partner…. your writing is informative, hilarious and entertaining! Clearly distracted me from my work cos I could not stop reading!… best of luck and will come back often….
Thanks so much, Mel! Where In NYC are you (and where’d you come from?
I hope to see you in Paris sometime!!
Hey Maggie…
Glad u enjoyed London:)
I am from Singapore, and currently living in Williamsburg… it is now, even more than a 2 years ago, a faux hipster place ( only rich post-college peeps), all the real hipsters are now in bushwick… also lots of strollers and yuppies! there is now a hsbc bank, a coming starbucks ( ousting a local bagel store) and duaneread on bedford ( right opposite a local small pharmacy)… horrors! .. But on the positive side… many more delish and innovative restaurants….
Will be in Paris in June and hope to catch one of your hidden concerts! I am sure the Parisians in my posse would be impressed !
xoxo
Meg, when are you getting here in June?? I’ll be heading to NYC towards mid-end of month… Hope there’s some overlap! XO~M
Hey Maggie,
Long time no write, been so caught up with reading for an exam that I haven’t had time to read much else
But finally dates for Paris are confirmed for 20-23rd June, and 4th of July as part of a Europe summer trip. Are you holding one of your concerts by chance any of these days? And could you possibly recommend a fab yoga studio/instructor in the city ?( preferably bilingual as my French is still at the beginner stage!) My body never feels at its peak without weekly yoga sessions! Thanks:) will you be in NYC during the same period?
Are you looking for an MFA prog in Paris? That sounds exciting!
xoxo
Mel
God, I’m only 17 and I visit your blog all the time! Not to mention I’m from Singapore. It has given me an insight on so many details about life, fashion, love…EVERYTHING! You’re amazing and such an inspiration. <3
Thank you, Dinah! All I have to say is, you seem very smart FOR “only 17.”
XO~M
Love your blog!
