Lin, Sports, Racism And Asian Americans
I’ve never been a big sports fan and leaving the US hasn’t made me more interested in American sports, but the incredible rise and rise of Jeremy Lin, Harvard-grad Knicks superstar, is hard to not pay attention to—especially as an Asian American.
There’s a lot to say on the subject, as many bloggers, sportswriters, commenters, and other various and sundry assholes opinionators already have.
But the most poignant piece I’ve read so far was by Jen over at Disgrasian. Not surprisingly, she wrote something sharp, sad and spot-on. It’s better than anything I could have come up with on the topic and a must-read if you’re wondering, “Why are all these Asians getting so worked up over this Lin kid?”
