New ANTM and a Makeover for Me
Thursday, February 21, 2008 by newyorkinparis
Now that I’m in the Land of the Best Television on the Planet (yep, the good ol’ USA), I’m getting sucked back into the idiot box. I’ve always been a fan of America’s Next Top Model and the new season starts tonight. It’s a horrible popularity contest (where Tyra Banks is always the winner) and so completely arbitrary, I love it.

This year, it’s set in NYC and my friend, Peter Buckingham, is one of the photographers who shot the girls for an episode. He’s the Jude Law look-a-like with the limpid blue eyes. (Ok, full disclosure: We dated years ago. But we’re just good friends now.)
Anyway, I’ll be happy to get back into ANTM for the next few weeks, although it is competing with my new-found obsession with Project Runway. I love my friends, who are not only putting me up while I’m here, but subscribe to cable. Project Runway rocks!
I got a new haircut today and I really have to call out my new hairdresser, Ringo Yip. I’ve got a ton of thick, long, Asian hair that was looking suspiciously like a not-so-small, wild animal on top of my head. He snipped for about an hour and a half (he even had to take a break midway through) and I love what he did. In fact, speaking of Project Runway, my new hair is reminiscent of Heidi Klum’s coif, but a little less perfect:

Did you catch the full lunar eclipse tonight? Amazing, beautiful and magical. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life.
And for serious ANTM fans, you must check out Rich’s blog. It’s hysterical and a must-read.
